Role of Women in King Kong

The ironic nature of which King Kong addresses the role of women in film is very interesting. Throughout the beginning of the film there is a re-occurrence of establishing that women get in the way of the cinematic experience. The director Mr. Denham seeming reluctant at first attempts to include a woman in his latest moving picture film. He does this in response of critics saying his pieces lack emotional connections otherwise conveyed through women. Another example are the initial encounters and conversations of Ms. Darrow and Jack Driscoll. The initial content of their dialogue centers around Driscoll commenting on how women are inclined to get in the way of everything. As the film progresses it is interesting how Ann Darrow is unable do anything with out the aide of Jack Driscoll. Upon his arrival she is unable to walk and stricken with helplessness. The film clandestinely advocates for the exclusion of women in film as a result of their "getting in the way of things", however the character Ann Darrow is very much involved in the plot.
